Many businesses across Singapore were negatively affected due to the ongoing pandemic. As a result, businesses turned to online solutions in hopes to keep their business afloat. Fortunately, at The Kettle Gourmet, we managed to grow by 247% over the pandemic being a digital-first company
Despite being in business for such a short time, we’ve grown from a humble startup to an entire popcorn empire led by Founder and CEO Zac Chua.
So how did we grow despite the pandemic?
The Kettle Gourmet’s Digital Transformation
We adopted the Digital-first strategy, which allowed us to dominate the online market. When everyone started working from home, our sales doubled. This gave us a competitive advantage against other popcorn companies such as Eureka and Garretts.
We digitalised and started selling our products on our website and our products can also be found on other popular e-commerce platforms - including Shopee, Lazada, Redmart and food delivery platforms such as GrabFood and Foodpanda.
Apart from selling our products on several established e-commerce sites, we are also on Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok, where we share exciting news and ongoing promotions.
The Kettle Gourmet rebranding
If you have heard of us before, you’ll remember that we used to have our popcorn in orange packaging.
Over time, we rebranded and we are proud to introduce our lovely Snack Monsters into our packaging. We also made significant changes to our pack sizes (30g to 65g) to ensure that our customers get to enjoy more of our popcorn!
Our popcorn is also available in larger bulk packs of 330g due to high demand from our customers wanting a larger portion.
During the start of the circuit breaker last year, we shifted our focus from mainly supplying to corporate customers to targeting locals who have started working from home—marketing ourselves as the work-from-home snack of choice.
We received an overwhelming response from the locals, as many of them loved and embraced our local flavours - Nasi Lemak and Kaya Butter Toast, as well as our all-time classics like the Chocolate and Salted Caramel popcorn.
We take pride in continual improvement and are constantly innovating. Recently, we tried a licensing strategy and purchased the pokemon license. We have some exciting news for you...
