It is an honour for The Kettle Gourmet to be featured in an article by FoodNavigatorAsia. Certainly, the Covid-19 pandemic has brought about trouble to many businesses. However, we are fortunate that we managed to grow by 247% in revenue during Covid.
So, how did we grow even during the pandemic? Read on to find out more!
Zac, our founder, shared that the company executed a digital-first strategy compared to other popcorn brands like Garretts and Eureka.
Digital-first strategy
All this while, we have dominated the online realm, so when everyone started working from home, our online sales doubled. Moreover, we had the first movers advantage during the pandemic as compared to our competitors like Garretts and Eureka.
As mentioned in the article, we were also the FIRST vendor in Singapore to be listed on the new AirAsia food platform, in tandem with our digital-first strategy.
Apart from AirAsia Food, we are also listed on other e-commerce platforms including Shopee, Lazada, Redmart and popular food delivery platforms such as GrabFood and Foodpanda.
The Kettle Gourmet rebranding
If you have been following us for a while, you'll remember we used to have our popcorn in our orange packaging. We have decided to use the “lull period” during the pandemic to do a rebranding exercise.
As mentioned in the article, we introduced the lovely Snack Monsters into our packaging and changed our prices and pack sizes (30g to 65g) significantly to ensure that you get to enjoy more of our popcorn.
We serve up to 6 different flavours of popcorn with classic flavours such as Salted Caramel and Chocolate. We also have Asian Favourites such as Nasi Lemak, Chilli Crab Kaya Butter Toast and Chicken Floss!
Our popcorn is also available in larger bulk packs of 330g, due to popular demand from our customers who wants a bigger portion of our popcorn.
Local flavoured popcorn
Our philosophy that drives our company and our growth is bringing back tradition in the loveable format of our Snack Monsters. This of course means putting traditional flavours like Kaya Butter Toast, Chilli Crab, Chicken Floss and the flavour that started it all, Nasi Lemak into loveable Snack Monster packaging.
Across all the platforms mentioned above, our Nasi Lemak popcorn is our most popular flavour as our customers love the new spin on tradition- Nasi Lemak flavoured popcorn.
Nasi Lemak is one of the popular dishes in Singapore, with a perfect mix of flavours: aromatic rice infused with coconut milk and pandan leaves, eaten with deep-fried fish or chicken wings, paired with Ikan Bilis (local anchovies) peanuts, eggs, cucumber slices and not forgetting the sambal.
Serving up an initial taste of the aromatic rice and Ikan Bilis perfectly mixed with a distinctive taste of sambal, The Kettle Gourmet infuses the rich flavours of Nasi lemak into popcorn.
Are you tempted to try this unique flavour? We offer the Nasi Lemak 6-pack set so you get to enjoy an irresistible snacking experience!
The Kettle Gourmet is also Halal Certified! This means you can share it with your Muslim friends and families.
Based on the article, Zac the founder of The Kettle Gourmet also shared that he seeks to expand the business further in the South East Asian region and to sell our popcorn to other foreign distributors.
Physical stores
Although we do not have our own physical stores, our popcorn is available at all 27 Fairprice Finest outlets island-wide and also the new AI unmanned convenience store Pick & Go with 3 outlets.
The Kettle Gourmet also partners with other brands and companies that you may recognise - like Komma cafe at Paya Lebar Quarter Mall and Toy Outpost.
In the article Zac also shared that there will be two new exciting flavours coming soon: Fish Head Curry and Pulut Hitam (Black glutinous rice dessert). If you are interested, stay tuned on our website, Instagram and Facebook and check them out when they launch!
